Common questions

A string is one translation key in any locale file: a JSON key/value pair, a YAML entry, a PO msgid, an XLIFF trans-unit. If you have 1,000 keys in your en.json, that's 1,000 strings. Pluralization rules (e.g. ICU message format one/other variants) count as one string per key, not per variant.

Yes, Tonguesage stores string keys and values to power translation memory and sync status tracking. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Each account's strings are isolated: there are no shared string tables between tenants. See our Security page for details.
